Maya Carolina Azevedo

Case Manager

Maya Carolina Azevedo is a Case Manager at Zimmer Law group. She was born in Flemington, New Jersey, but moved to Brazil at the age of three where she grew up and where her family still resides. Later in life, she moved to Minnesota for college and graduated from St Olaf College with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in Asian Studies and International Relations.

Maya started at Zimmer Law Group in June of 2026. She speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She is also learning Korean.  Maya has always had an interest in immigration law as she believes it is an area that deserves attention and recognition. She enjoys hearing her parents’ stories who were immigrants in the United States. That is how she realized that she wanted to be part of those successes and help others through their struggles with the system.

Throughout her college career, Maya volunteered with organizations like TRIO, which connected her with the Hispanic community in the Twin Cities. She studied abroad in Ecuador where she lived with a host family who accepted her and taught her so much of their culture.

Maya finds professional fulfillment working in immigration law because she strives to learn the immigration systems, connect with her community, and she enjoys the privilege of meeting new people and hearing their stories.

In her free time, she likes to read, travel back to Brazil to visit her family, and go swimming at the beach.
