Rachel Birkedal is a Senior Case Manager with Zimmer Law Group. In this role, Rachel works directly with our clients to gather and prepare the necessary evidence for their individual cases. Additionally, she serves as a Spanish interpreter/translator for the needs of the firm and our clients. As a Senior Case Manager, Rachel is also responsible for overseeing the case work of other case managers at Zimmer Law Group.
Rachel came to Zimmer Law Group from The Advocates for Human Rights in Minneapolis, where she was the Refugee and Immigrant Program Assistant through the Lutheran Volunteer Corp. While at The Advocates, Rachel screened and met with individuals and families on the Immigration Court’s Priority Docket, primarily women with children and unaccompanied minors from Central America. At Zimmer Law Group, she continues to work with those in Immigration Court in preparing cases with asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)-based relief. Rachel also works on a wide range of immigration cases including U visas, humanitarian deferred action, family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, and naturalization. Rachel obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina and later lived in Morelos, Mexico as a volunteer with SARAR Transformación. She has worked with first- and second-generation immigrant families as a tutor and interim director of the “Abriendo Puertas” after-school program of Centro Latino of Hickory. Rachel brings her varied personal and professional experience working with immigrants and migrants, within the United States and abroad, as she strives to best serve our clients in their immigration matters. |
